Scrobble Report: 2Q 2017

According to last.fm, we had 5374 total scrobbles of 4208 different songs for the three-month period between April 1st and June 30th, 2017. Of the 725 songs that got more than one play, there were twenty-seven songs with six or more plays and five songs with eleven or more plays. The Top Five, from 5 to 1, were:

Three of the five most scrobbled albums the past three months were part of Time-Life's Singers and Songwriters Collection, particularly the double-disc volumes from 1964-1969, 1969-1972 and 1970-1971.
Dan Auerbach's beautifully modern retroriffic Waiting On A Song was our sixth most scrobbled album while the Prince compilation 4Ever came in, appropriately it would seem, at number four. To our ears, 4Ever is the best sounding, both brighter and tighter, Prince album yet though we have not yet spent as much time listening to the Ultimate Collector's Edition of Purple Rain as I would like to.
The most scrobbled album for the 91-day period representing the second quarter of 2017, by one little single solitary scrobble, out of the total of 3419 different albums scrobbled, was another Time-Life compilation, This Magic Moment, part of the Classic Love Songs of the '60s series from 2008 though you may have it on your shelf as part of the Romancing The '60s series, a refreshed version of Classic Love Songs released in 2013 after StarVista bought Time-Life.
Despite dropping twelve spots in the second quarter, The Beatles remain our Number One Most Scrobbled Artist overall after the first six months of 2017. It will be interesting to see if any other artists can break into the Top 20 in quarter three. Check back in October for the next quarterly scrobble report.
